The first time Diana tried felting, she was so impressed that she decided to leave her job in marketing to become a full-time felting professional. Today, Diana is a professional felting master, and her skills are often featured in the Latvian media. Her foremost felting talent is the creation of felted portrait dolls: handmade and uncannily accurate 3D copies of real people. She is extremely enthusiatic about her craft, and the best companion and coach imaginable, for novice and expert felters alike.
The activity you are going to dive into is 8000 years old. According to one of the legends, the origin comes from Sumer civilizations. This is also one of the first techniques of turning material into textile. This is felt making which ties ancient times with the present.
There are two felt making methods. This time, it is going to be needle dry felting. By using special needles you will feel as a sculptor handcrafting your masterpiece. The masterpiece is a felted toy which, of course, can be played with, and as soon as the toy left by the kid, it can be put into the frame and become a decor element, or serve as a toy bringing good luck to its owner. What you are going to make on its belly, it is all up to your imagination.
